After I posted a blog titled "Noshi to Awabi" in December, I asked my mother in Fukuoka to send me " Noshibukuro" she had on hand. She sent me several "Noshigami" (picture). They all look the same, but if you look closely, there are subtle differences; a crane is flying in one noshi and standing in another, a "Ume no hana" is red in one and white in another, etc. All Noshi have the yellow pieces, originally dried awabi, in the center, thereby symbolically keeping the tradition.
